If a company is still sketching out the renderings, it means they're an outdated company. Can They Answer All of the Questions That You Have?

When you schedule your closet consultation, you'll be having a closet consultant come and work with you. Being the customer, you may have questions or concerns regarding your custom closet. Now, this one is pretty common sense- the closet consultant needs to be able to answer all of your questions and concerns. If they have to call their boss, or "get back to you", this should be an immediate red flag. You're hiring them to be closet experts, so they should be knowledgeable in every step of the process. Is The Closet Consultant Addressing All of Your Needs?

This seems like a simple one, but it's important. If you're hiring a company to create a custom closet for you, it should be just that- custom created to suit your needs. This means they should be listening to what your needs are and creating a rendering of the closet from there. If they're trying to sell you a pre-made closet layout, it should show you the company is more interested in their money than working to provide you with a closet that will suit your needs. These are supposed to be custom, so if they aren't creating a custom closet on the spot with you, this should be a problem.
